Saving the planet? You can make a difference.

Two easy ways you can contribute to the effort ~

Disposable pen waste is a major factor in the pollution of the world's landfills and oceans.

  • The yearly production of one major US pen maker is estimated to stretch around the globe twice, if the pens were placed end to end. There are hundreds of pen factories worldwide.
  • The average ink capacity of the typical promotional pen is 800 feet. That's only a few weeks of constant writing. The factories want this to maintain the constant churn of pen replacement.

#1 Look for pens with larger ink refills!

We produce pens with an average of 1,200 meters of ink — almost 5 times as much capacity. It is unlikely that our pens will ever run out of ink in the hands of your customer.

What is recycled PET?

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is the plastic used in disposable water and soda bottles. It's one of the most recyclable plastics in widespread use — and one of the most commonly littered. Billions of PET bottles end up in oceans and landfills every year. Recycling them into durable goods like pens keeps that plastic out of the environment.

How a recycled-PET pen is made

The manufacturing process for our Genesis pen looks roughly like this:

  1. PET bottles are collected from ocean cleanup operations and recycling streams.
  2. The bottles are washed, sorted by color, and shredded into flakes.
  3. The flakes are melted and extruded into pellets.
  4. The pellets are injection-molded into pen barrels and components.
  5. Each pen is assembled with a high-capacity refill and quality-checked.

The Genesis barrel is 100% recycled PET — not a blend, not a small percentage. That's a meaningful difference when your brand is making a sustainability claim.

Why ocean-reclaimed plastic matters

Plastic that has already entered the ocean is the hardest to recapture and the most damaging to marine ecosystems. Sourcing from ocean cleanup operations creates direct demand for that material, funding the cleanup work. It's a tighter loop than generic post-consumer recycled content.

The often-overlooked sustainability factor: ink life

A pen that lasts twice as long is, in a real sense, half as wasteful. A typical promotional pen has a small refill that runs dry in months. The Genesis carries an extra-large refill that writes up to 3.5 miles — enough for years of typical use. Buying one quality pen instead of three throwaway pens is a sustainability win that rarely gets discussed.

What to ask before buying an "eco-friendly" pen

  • What percentage of the barrel is actually recycled material? (100% is best)
  • Where did the recycled plastic come from? (Ocean reclamation is strongest)
  • How long does the refill last? (Longer = less waste)
  • Is the pen refillable, or designed to be thrown out when dry?
